3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Miss Les Mis
Okay.
I think I owe you guys the truth before I say anything in this blog.
All I know about Les Miserables prior to watching the movie is that it's a novel about the French Revolution from the point of view of the poor and yes, I learned that from one episode of 2 Broke Girls. So if you think I don't have enough credibility to write a review about the movie, you may close this window now. Otherwise, thank you.
Alright. In way, I felt pressured to watch this movie because people just won't stop tweeting about it. I planned to watch it in a movie house with my sister but since it's her prelim exams, I had no choice but to try and find a decent copy over the internet. Luckily, I did and I was able to watch at the comfort of my own home. Of course all thanks to technology.
And so, here are the 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Miss Les Mis.
Good job to the all-star cast and the director Tom Hooper!

Luckily, I did and I was able to watch at the comfort of my own home. Of course all thanks to technology.
And so, here are the 3 Reasons Why You Shouldn't Miss Les Mis.
- It's based on one of the greatest novels of the 19th century. I'm sure most of you who watched the movie haven't read a single word of Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. I'm guilty of that myself but if you're one of those who prefer movies over books, this is perfect for you. Well, I can't really say if the movie gave justice to the novel because as I've said I haven't read it but all the essential points of the plot are present. And come on! Are you really going to miss a phenomenal portrayal of something historically great? I don't think so.
- The actors and actresses actually sang and meant it. Let's face it. It's not everyday that we see actors and actresses that can REALLY sing in a musical especially here in the Philippines. Those days have long been gone after the legend that is Ms. Lea Salonga. I'm just glad that everyone in the movie pulled it off especially Anne Hathaway. She's primarily the reason why I almost cried my eyes out while watching the movie. That "I Dreamed a Dream" scene. Heavy stuff.
- And last but not the least, its lessons are more than just inspiration. I love that the movie didn't focus on just one point of view although it started out that way. The whole spectrum of human emotion was thick and dense from beginning to end and it's very engaging. Even if the viewer doesn't share the same sentiment as the characters, the music and lyrics coupled with superb acting are enough to get the point across. Moreover, the movie perfectly mirrored the lives and hearts of those who lived during that time and that's something no history textbook can ever narrate.
And there you have it. I do hope that you guys give it a shot. I understand that musicals could be boring in the first 10 to 20 minutes but I promise it'll be worth it.
Good job to the all-star cast and the director Tom Hooper!
Until next time.
Good night, y'all!
