The Tale of Opposites
Day 29.
Who would've thought that a girl with a very quiet disposition had a lot in common with a very outspoken and all-over-the-place type of girl like me?
Somehow, my weekend was a little better because of a nice talk I had with this quiet girl who happened to be one of my former professors back in college. She's actually a teaching assistant or something like that in our Comparative Vertebrate Embryology. We never really talked back then. We joked sometimes but we never really had an in depth discussion about anything serious in life. Last night, while I was begging God to give me a person to talk to, she suddenly appeared out of nowhere and volunteered herself.
We talked about stuff I'd normally laugh at when I was still that struggling graduating student. Somehow, I've grown a little and seen some cruel realities of life after school. That's the reason why we were able to really talk like mature individuals. In a way, I was able to converse with her over Yahoo instant messaging without holding anything back which is something I basically do around badass people who have already earned their titles in the very competitive community of academes. It's nice that the person who was once my teacher actually treated me like her best girlfriend. We talked about how everything's going in our jobs as teachers, how love can be a very potent weapon for friendship destruction and how life is right now for both of us. I was able to vent and so was she. It's just amazing how the two of us can actually click despite having opposite personalities - her being reserved and me being free-spirited. I even proposed the idea of us being long lost sisters which many people would surely laugh at because of the very clear difference in body built.
Anyway, I'm just so glad we had that talk although I wasn't able to say goodnight properly because of our internet connection that always crashes at the most important of times.
Thank you, Abi. Super.
And don't you worry about our dreams not having a place in our schedules. Someday, they'll surely fit in and nobody can say shit about it.
GO, FIGHT, WIN GIRL! High five!
